Powder Addiction Snow Cat Skiing
The Powder Addiction guides will meet you at the world headquarters in the Village at Winter Park Ski Resort or at Powder Addiction operations base at Jones Pass. We’ll start day with some required paperwork for you to fill out, it’s not that bad. Then the fun starts, we will issue a backpack containing all the required avalanche safety gear, there is some room for personal gear, and extra storage in the snowcat. Around 8:00am, we load up the van and off we go for a fantastic day at Jones Pass. Once arriving at Jones Pass we will load the gear in the snowcat and climb aboard.
The first ride up we will go over your avalanche safety gear, that was issued to you in your backpack, talk about skiing procedures for the day and give a safety talk. This is a great time to ask your guide any questions you might have about the day.
The first run of the day is guides choice, based on current conditions. It could be a high alpine bowl or some sweet tree shots. We will spend the day skiing or riding virgin snow at an average elevation of 11,000 feet. Most of our skiing starts one at a time for safety reasons and then becomes follow the leader after the pitch mellows. One of the guides always skis first and sets boundaries and a meeting spot. Then back to the snowcat for another round of fresh lines.
Everyone loves lunch! The Back Bowl Soup Company provides an awesome spread. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water. We can eat lunch inside the snowcat or outside if the weather is right. Then back up for some more turns. Last run is usually around 2:30-3:00pm at the latest and is always up to the lead guide’s discretion.
When we arrive back at the World Headquarters in Winter Park, you will be treated to a complimentary beer, a chance to recap your day and give your legs a much deserved rest.
We enjoy sharing our addiction and invite you to experience a day of cat skiing at its finest.
