Polly Simpich

Polly Simpich

Polly looks for the best powder turns wherever she can find them. She is just returning to us from her latest snowy adventure of ski patrolling in the Chilean Andes. As a Colorado native, Polly has enjoyed skiing her whole life. She has been ski patrolling and instructing at Winter Park Resort over the last decade, and enjoys skiing the back country at every opportunity. She holds a level II Avalanche certification and has been a route leader for the Avalanche Control Team at Winter Park Resort for the last 4 years.

Greg McFadden aka Greggles

Greg McFadden aka Greggles

Greg works several trips a year as a Grand Canyon river guide, and also guides snowcat skiing in Idaho for 6 weeks during the season. Greg will be helping out early and late season and will make a guest appearance as an AIRE certified avalanche instructor. Greg recently purchased Canyons river outfitters. When he is not ski or river guiding Greg is a famous painter. Check out River Painter

Steve Waldorf aka Waldo

Waldo learned how to ski in his back yard in New Hampshire. He came to Colorado on a ski trip and the next year he moved to Winter Park. That was 20 years ago. Steve worked at Berthoud Pass as a ski patroller, guide and avalanche instructor and also was a ski patroller at Winter Park. In addition to being a Powder Addict, Steve is a full time firefighter, EMT, husband and a father of two little powder addicts.

Greg Englund

Greg is an emergency room nurse with eight years experience ski patrolling and snow safety. He loves to telemark and cross country ski as well as mountain biking. His dream is to be out skied by his two daughters, fortunately they are only one and three so he has some time. He loves stupid jokes and will repeat them frequently. He also loves adventuring of any kind.

Shawn Edmondson

Shawn lives in Nederland, CO with his wife, Tracy, and their two boys, Scout and Hatcher. He is a carpenter, striving to preserve powder, by building energy neutral homes in Boulder County. Shawn’s skiing lifestyle has brought him far from his roots at Mohawk Mountain in Connecticut. He has spent the last 15 years exploring the backcountry of North America, skiing in Alaska, Canada, and throughout the western US.

Tim Hugo aka Timmay

As a proponent of the theory that “Gravity rules all,” Tim Hugo has spent the last 28 years with a pair of skis on his feet trying to help gravity rule his own life. At age 16, Hugo acquired a powder addiction that would eventually lead him to drop out of college in 1990 to become a ski bum in Winter Park Colorado. After returning to school and earning two degrees, he quickly returned to a life of skiing and is now a 13 year semi-veteran of the Winter Park ski patrol with 10 years as an avalanche route leader as well as a backcountry travel and rescue instructor. Hugo can be found in Tabernash, Colorado working on the theory that bacon is the healthiest food on the planet.

 Jamie Wolter aka Ski Boss

First in line for a powder fix Jamie is always trying to find the next fresh line. Born and raised in the Detroit area, he left the city for the mountains and never looked back. Jamie got his start guiding as a winter mountaineering instructor for the Colorado Outward Bound School in 1988. An AAA certified avalanche instructor, Jamie has taught avalanche education for over 20 years. He has spent the past two decades working for both Berthoud Pass Ski Area and Winter Park Resort in a variety of powder addict driven positions including back country ski guide, ski patroller and snow safety coordinator. Jamie lives in Downtown Fraser and shares his powder addiction with his wife Jean.
